What is Integrative Medicine?

This course exists to educate the community on Integrative Health. Grocery Tour: Shop with a Doc

This workshop exists to incorporate healthy meal planning and grocery shopping for a healthy diet. Introduction to Mindfulness

This course exists for people with little to no knowledge and experience in practicing Mindfulness to learn about this powerful self-care tool and start to use it immediately in a number of mindfulness exercises. This course will offer the attendee a background of Mindfulness, what the research is showing about the physical and emotional benefits of a mindfulness practice, and a supportive place to start to learn the basics and practice. The attendee will gain a healthy coping and self-regulation tool that they can use immediately moving forward to help them build resilience and manage their stress. This is designed for anyone who is motivated to learn about how to start a mindfulness practice and how to use it as a stress-management tool. This course costs $30 per class.

Fundamentals of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) for Stress Management (aka Tapping)

This course exists for people with little to no knowledge and experience in EFT to learn about this powerful self-care tool and start to use it immediately in its basic form in a safe and supportive group setting. The workshop content will include a description of EFT and how it works to increase resilience/decrease the stress response and promote clearer thinking and emotional regulation. They will learn the Basic EFT Process and the Tapping Sequence and practice these in a group format. There will be some, but very little, lecture in a casual format, all the while having the participants interact and answer questions as they learn about EFT and the tapping process and sequence. This workshop requires a high level of participation and tapping related activities. This course costs $30 per class.

Introduction to Health Coaching

This course exists to introduce individuals to the role of the Health Coach. Describe coaching as a way to support behavior change .This course will explore the role of the health coach in promoting behavior change and healthy promotion and what is expected of the individual during a health coaching partnership. Additionally, this course will raise awareness of the structure of a coaching session and specific coaching skills that health coaches bring to a coaching session (MI, AI, Strength Based Perspective). Acupuncture and You, Perfect Together

Creating an Active Life

This course is suggested for those aged 55 and over, who may have a chronic illness, cancer or be recovering from an illness or surgery and have not exercised in some time. This course will improve fitness and decrease stress, improve mood and cognition and decrease the risk for chronic disease. This course is designed for sedentary people, especially those who are hesitant to start exercising. Prior to participation, a questionnaire will be given to screen for contraindications to exercise. This form will be sent to you upon registration and must be returned and approved prior to class start. This course costs $30 per class.

Survivor Yoga for Those Living with Cancer

A very gentle and restorative class for anyone impacted by cancer. Cancer patients, survivors, thrivors, family, friends, caregivers, or health care professionals are all welcome. This class incorporates a blend of mindful meditation, breathe awareness and gentle yoga poses to relax and renew the body, mind and heart. This yoga practice is specifically designed to improve the body’s flexibility and strength, increase blood flow and circulation, and to lower anxiety and stress. In a safe and supported atmosphere, together we discover tools for well-being. Feel free to bring your own yoga mat, however a limited amount of mats will be provided. Online registration preferred, however, cash or check will be accepted for drop in. This course costs $10 per class.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

Course fee for 8 weeks includes CD of guided meditation, course materials, and Day of Mindfulness Retreat. This 8-week course will teach you skills to reduce stress by tapping into your own natural resources. This evidence-based program has helped many participants to practice positive behavior changes, reverse stress related health problems and improve quality of life. Course will cover topics such as: Awareness, different types of meditation (Sitting, Guided, Loving Kindness), mindful movement, yoga, the physiology of stress, responding vs. reacting, dealing with difficult emotions, sensations, & physical pain, mindfulness & compassion and more. Gentle Fall Morning Yoga

This yoga class combines gentle physical movement with mindful meditation and breath awareness for a soft, nourishing and relaxing yoga practice.  Students explore poses that restore and strengthen the body, increase flexibility, and lubricate joints.  A practice focused on the yoga sutra  “sthira sukham asanam” we discover steadiness and ease of body and mind.  By mindfully waking the body, we calm the mind bringing more aliveness and energy to our day.   Bring a yoga mat if you have one.  We also have mats and props for you to use. This course costs $10 per class.

Yoga…… The Mind Body Happy Hour

Yoga has a way of transforming a persons view of themselves and their place in the world. Aside from the amazing physical benefits which include toning, strength, and flexibility, Yoga serves as a vehicle for personal transformation where one may experience complete joy and peace with oneself. It is whatever you make it to be; a spiritual, mental, emotional and physical practice all wrapped into one! The connection of mind, body and spirit is yoga. The union of all. The intent of this class is to prepare you for the stressors that you may encounter throughout your day or your shift. Although held at multiple hospital sites, this class is open to all. It will include a basic vinyasa yoga practice along with some meditation intended to evoke a positive attitude and mindset for you to go forth and serve others to the best of your ability. Feel free to bring your own yoga mat, however a limited amount of mats will be provided. Online registration preferred, howev-er, cash or check will be accepted for drop in. Beginner QiGong/TaiChi

This 4-week class combines gentle movements, relaxed breathing and focused intention, this integral style of Qigong’s great appeal is that everyone can benefit regardless of age or level of fitness.  All movements can be performed standing or sitting. This class will focus on developing a practice that maintains optimum health and well-being. Regular practice can help reduce stress, improve balance, increase stamina, calm the mind, and enhance the immune system. Class includes Beginner Qigong student manual, history and benefits of Qigong, guidelines for practice, Qigong movements, self- applied massage instruction, and guided meditation. Participants will learn how to perform Qigong safely and effectively. Practicing Qigong can improve the overall quality of your health.
